The family house of Manuel António Ferreira de Aragão (Field Marshal and morgado) was built in 1760 as the manor house of the Aragão family in Vilar Chão, municipality of Alfândega da Fé. It has a coat of arms and is considered the most important heritage site of the family in Vilar Chão.
João Vilares, in “Monografia do Concelho de Alfândega da Fé”, describes it as follows: “on a field of gold, four red pales; crest: a leaping red bull with a collar and bell around its neck; above, in one of the corners, an arrow”.
The first records of the Aragão Family House date back to the year 1764.Since its origin, dedicated to agriculture, this House has more than 260 years of experience in the production of olive oil with a smooth flavour and rich aroma.
Alongside the weight of tradition and inherited know-how, the Aragão family has successfully combined innovation and technology, thus ensuring the highest quality at all stages of the production process and originality in the various products it presents to the market.
The olives come from olive groves in the municipality of Alfândega da Fé, the Vale da Vilariça and the slopes of the Sabor and Tua Rivers.
Obtained through cold pressing, these olive oils, with low acidity and a golden colour, have a very pleasant fresh-fruit flavour.
The Verdeal, Madural, Cordovil and Cobrançosa varieties contribute to this, and these are recognised under the Protected Designation of Origin “D.O.P. Trás-os-Montes”.
The consumer is guaranteed the origin and quality of the product, as well as compliance with and control of all production and processing standards provided for by the legislation in force.
M.C. Rabaçal & Aragão, Lda. also has an extremely high-quality olive oil produced from Organic Agriculture, Alfandagh.
Thinking about the benefits that olive oil brings to health, and especially to the little ones, Casa Aragão launched the first organic olive oil specifically designed for babies and children, Alfandagh Kids.
Always innovating and surprising, Casa Aragão exceeded all expectations by adding edible gold leaves to traditional olive oil. This olive oil contains 23-carat gold, allowing consumers to enjoy the combination of two products with health benefits.
In 2016, CASA ARAGÃO once again demonstrated its innovative spirit by launching Olive Oil Powder with Aromatic Herbs. This product earned the company the National Innovation Award promoted by Crédito Agrícola.
