The creative concept takes its inspiration from the Caretos de Podence, one of Portugal's most distinctive cultural traditions.
Their extraordinary costumes, constructed from layers of colourful wool fringes in vibrant red, yellow and green, became the visual DNA of the project.
Rather than simply illustrating the tradition, we translated its colours, movement, textures and materials into a contemporary packaging language.
The result is a bottle that carries a piece of Portuguese culture into a completely new context.
The label recreates the layered structure and tactile character of the Caretos' traditional costumes.
Colour is transformed into texture. Texture becomes volume.
And volume turns the label into an object to be discovered through touch.
The objective was not simply to reproduce the visual appearance of the costume, but to give the bottle its physical energy and character.
The bottle is presented inside a bespoke natural wood frame, deliberately designed to leave the product visible rather than conceal it.
The open structure transforms the packaging into a display piece, framing the bottle almost like an artefact.
Casa Aragão is stamped on both sides of the wooden structure, while a leather carrying strap finished with gold foil extends from the top.
Wood, leather, metal, aluminium and glass come together to create a packaging experience that feels crafted rather than manufactured.
Designed specifically for the US market, Caretos de Podence Premium Extra Virgin Olive OIl, brings together two worlds: the authenticity of Portuguese olive oil culture and the expectations of contemporary premium packaging.
The final result is a packaging experience where heritage becomes design, craftsmanship becomes value, and a centuries-old Portuguese tradition finds a new stage thousands of kilometres from home.
